FALL CREEK – The Spencer/Marshfield Columbus Catholic football team handled Fall Creek 24-7 on Friday in a Cloverbelt Conference game.
The Rockets picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Cloverbelt. Fall Creek falls to 1-2 overall and in conference play.
Travis Pischel had touchdown runs of 1 and 88 yards in the first half and Paul Selz had a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to lift the Rockets to the win.
Spencer/Columbus lost four fumbles but was able to withstand the mistakes by holding Fall Creek to 199 total yards, and only 91 on the ground.
Pischel finished with 97 yards and Selz had 95 for the Rockets. Selz also was 4-for-4 passing for 76 yards. Jordan Buss was 3-for-4 in the quarterback rotation for S/C for 15 yards.
Jared Boyle led all receivers with five catches for 76 yards and kicked a 28-yard field goal to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Spencer/Columbus hosts Stanley-Boyd in a Cloverbelt game next Friday at Spencer High School.
