AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team ran its record to 6-0 in the Marawood Conference South Division as it slipped past Edgar 54-51 on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches led 16-13 after a low-scoring first half.
The pace picked up in the second half as each team scored 38 points and Auburndale were able to hold on for the victory.
Colton Wright had 22 points, and Cooper Weinfurter added 14 points and six rebounds for the Apaches, who are 6-1 overall.
Drew Guden scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half, and B Baumgartner added 14 points, 12 in the second half, for the Wildcats (4-3, 2-3 Marawood South).
Auburndale will host its annual holiday tournament on Dec. 27-28. The Apaches will play Weyauwega-Fremont and Loyal will take on Augusta in semifinals on Thursday, Dec. 27. The semifinals and championship game will be on Dec. 28.
