AUBURNDALE – The Spencer volleyball team dominated play Saturday at the Auburndale Invitational, winning all five of its matches to win the title.
Spencer swept Necedah, Auburndale, Prentice and Iola-Scandinavia before needing three games to defeat Mosinee in the championship match.
The Rockets beat Mosinee 25-23, 19-25, 15-9 to win the title.
“We had a fantastic team day. Everyone did their job,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “Courtney (Schulz) was at times unstoppable in the front row. When we passed, we really attacked well. If feels great to beat quality teams. We really clicked.”
Schulz finished with 43 kills, seven blocks and eight service aces for Spencer, which won its other matches 25=14, 25-15 over Necedah, 25-20, 25-18 over Auburndale, 25-17, 25-21 over Prentice at 25-22, 25-17 over Iola-Scandinavia.
Kylie Esser had 55 assists and Kyleigh Hebert had 42 assists for the Rockets. Tara Matter added 21 kills and Nicki Bruss had 20 kills.
Auburndale finished in third place, losing to Mosinee in the semifinals and defeating Stevens Point Pacelli in the third-place match.
Kari Willfahrt had 30 kills and Liz Breu had 26 kills and eight service aces to lead the Apaches. Haley Harman added 19 kills and Kimberly Masephol led Auburndale with 51 digs in its five matches.
Stratford finished in sixth place. The Tigers lost to Pacelli 25-16, 25-16, Mosinee 25-19, 25-10, and Prentice 25-17, 25-21. Stratford beat Assumption 23-25, 25-12, 15-11, and Florence 25-18, 25-10.
Amber Schneider had 16 kills and 32 assists, Hannah Schmitt added 14 kills, Haley Austin had 26 assists and Rachel Ludwig had 35 digs for Stratford.
Auburndale plays at Edgar, Spencer hosts Augusta and Stratford plays at Marathon on Tuesday.
