Stratford girls basketball pounds Athens

STRATFORD – The Stratford girls basketball team remains in a tie for first place in the Marawood Conference South Division after routing Athens 55-33 in a conference crossover game Friday night at Stratford High School.

Breanna Ackley made seven of eight shots from the field and scored a team-high 18 points for the Tigers, who are now 8-3 overall and 7-1 in the Marawood South. Stratford is tied with Wausau Newman Catholic for first place in the conference.

Blaire Lindner added 13 points for Stratford, which saw nine different players hit the scoring column.

Ackley, Lindner and Callie Lehman all had six rebounds to lead the Tigers.

Kenadi Diedrich scored two-thirds of Athens’ points, pouring in a game-high 22. The Bluejays are now 7-4 overall and 4-4 in the Marawood North.

Stratford hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Tuesday and Edgar next Thursday in a pair of Marawood South games.
