Wausau West uses hot first half to down Marshfield girls basketball

MARSHFIELD – First-place Wausau West proved too much for the Marshfield girls basketball team on Tuesday night, as the Warriors won 69-40 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup at Marshfield High School.

The Warriors (11-2, 5-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) shot 48 percent (26 of 52) and held a 33-21 rebounding advantage as they cruised to the win.

West led 44-19 at halftime to take control early.

Kadie Deaton had 19 points and seven rebounds, and Tess Hauer added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors.

Marshfield (4-9, 2-4 WVC) was led by junior guard Kaydee Johnson, who had 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. No other Tigers reached double figures.

Marshfield is off until Friday, Jan. 18, when it plays at Stevens Point.
