Auburndale boys basketball roughs up Nekoosa

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team completing dominated the first half and pummeled Nekoosa 83-29 in a nonconference matchup Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches jumped out to a 47-8 lead by halftime and continued to pour it on the second half, winning by 54 points.

Auburndale is now 10-1 overall and goes into its game against Stratford on Friday at home on an eight-game winning streak. Both teams are a perfect 7-0 in Marawood Conference South Division play.

Auburndale shot 58 percent from the field (30-for-52) and were 11 of 22 from 3-point range in the victory.

Colton Wright made 5 of 6 shots from 3-point range and scored a game-high 19 points for the Apaches. Cooper Weinfurter had 13 points, Fletcher Raab and Aaron Marth both added 11, and Hunter Wright chipped in 10 points for Auburndale.

Nekoosa is now 1-12 this season.
