Auburndale girls basketball falls at Wausau Newman Catholic

WAUSAU – Jadelyn Ganski had 25 points and Julia Seidel nailed three 3-pointers and added 13 points to lift Wausau Newman Catholic to a 60-49 victory over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Newman Catholic High School.

Newman Catholic remains in a tie for first place in the Marawood South with Stratford, improving to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Auburndale is now 5-8 and 3-6 in the Marawood South.

Auburndale trailed by 17 points at halftime, 34-17, but stuck in the game with a solid night at the free throw line, making 18 of 26 overall.

Natalie Aue and Marissa Ponshock each had 13 points, and Georgi Schmutzer made three 3-pointers and chipped in 12 points for the Apaches.

Auburndale hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
