MARATHON – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team had its 10-game winning streak snapped, losing its first game of the season to Marathon 72-60 in nonconference action Tuesday night at Marathon High School.
The Dons are now 10-1, while Marathon improves to 8-2.
Marathon charged out to a 42-23 lead by halftime and were able to hang on the second half.
Bryce Fuerlinger had a huge game for the Dons with 23 points and 17 rebounds, and Noah Taylor added 16 points.
Jaden Koeller led Marathon with 18 points, making all seven of his field goal attempts, including four 3-pointers. Cameron Schilling added 16 points, Carter Hanke had 15 points, and Clarke Mouw had 11 points and nine rebounds in the win.
Columbus Catholic hosts Loyal on Thursday in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup. The game, which begins at 7:15 p.m., will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
