Marshfield boys hockey comes from behind to top Antigo in overtime

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team pulled out a miraculous victory over Antigo on Saturday night at the Marshfield Ice Center, scoring the game’s final three goals to edge the Red Robinson 5-4 in overtime.

Marshfield (12-5) led 2-0 early after Sawyer Schindler scored in the first period on a power play and Nick Urban added a goal midway through the second period.

Antigo finally found its offense, and in a big way, scoring four unanswered goals in a span of 4:17, to take a two-goal lead.

Isaac Wickersheim had two goals and assisted on goals from Eric Langseth and Frank Volpentesta to give Antigo (6-9-1) a 4-2 lead heading into the third period.

Marshfield clawed back as goalie A.J. Trierweiler made 10 of his 34 saves to keep the Tigers in it.

Ryan Krueger scored on a power play with 8:45 to go, and Urban added another goal just 53 seconds later to tie the game for the Tigers.

Marshfield won it 4:17 into overtime on a goal by Isaac Wellens off an assist by Urban.

Marshfield plays another nonconference game at Waupaca on Tuesday.
