A number of former local high school athletes have moved on to the next level and are playing sports collegiately across the country.
Periodically, MarshfieldAreaSports.com will publish a College Sports Roundup updating readers of some of those local athletes’ exploits at the collegiate level.
Fravert shining for No. 3 UW-Oshkosh
Adam Fravert, a 2016 graduate of Marshfield High School, is a starting junior forward for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh men’s basketball team.
Fravert has started all 21 games this season for the Titans, who are 20-1 and ranked No. 3 in the latest D3hoops.com national poll.
Fravert is second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game and leads Oshkosh with 7 rebounds per game.
He has four 20-point games this season, scoring a season-high 26 points in a win at Edgewood College on Nov. 20. He has scored in double figures 17 times for the Titans.
UW-Oshkosh plays at UW-Platteville on Wednesday and hosts UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.
Michaelis starting at Crookston
Caitlyn Michaelis, a 2015 graduate of Marshfield High School, is a starting guard for the University of Minnesota-Crookston women’s basketball team.
Michaelis has started all 22 games this season as Crookston is 10-12 overall and 5-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Michaelis is averaging 11 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, and leads the team in minutes per game (31.1) and 3-pointers made (39).
She had a season-high 21 points, going 5-for-6 from 3-point range, against Northern State (S.D.) on Jan. 11, and also hit five 3-pointers against Wayne State (Neb.) on Dec. 16.
Crookston continues its schedule with home games against Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday and Concordia University of St. Paul on Saturday.
Schoenfuss seeing action at UWO
A.J. Schoenfuss, a 2018 graduate of Stratford High School and a three-time WIAA individual state champion for the Tigers, is a freshman on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh wrestling team.
Schoenfuss has been part of the regular lineup for the Titans this season, going 18-8 with a team-high 13 pins while wrestling at 125 pounds.
Schoenfuss finished third at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational on Dec. 1 and eight at the Pete Wilson Invitational at Wheaton (Ill.) College on Jan. 25-26.
Schoenfuss and the Titans will compete at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday at UW-Eau Claire.
Anderson sees minimal action at La Crosse
Seth Anderson, a 2018 Marshfield High School graduate, is a freshman reserve on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s basketball team.
Anderson has seen time in seven games for the Eagles, who are 15-6 overall and 8-2 in the WIAC.
Anderson has totaled 40 minutes of playing time, scoring nine points on 4-for-10 shooting and corralling five rebounds. He has a season-high five points in a win over Buena Vista (Iowa) on Dec. 8.
La Crosse plays at River Falls on Wednesday and hosts Eau Claire on Saturday.
