WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys and girls cross country teams each placed third Tuesday at the D.C. Everest Invitational at Nine Mile Forest.
The top three teams for both the boys and girls were the same, with Stevens Point first and D.C. Everest second in each.
Rebecca Voss continued her strong freshman campaign for the Tigers, winning the girls race in 19:26. Lisa Kaiser was seventh in 20:51 and Lisa Kaiser was 11th in 21:03 for Marshfield.
“Rebecca Voss looked impressive today as she dominated the race from the
mile mark up until the finish line,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “She really liked the 5K distance the girls run at this course.”
Claire Pinter led the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls runners, taking ninth overall in 20:59.
Bryan Zimmerman had the Marshfield boys lone top-10 finish, taking ninth in 17:20. Teammates Aaron Anderson (16th, 17:40), Adam Voss (17th, 17:41) and Adam Binder (18th, 18:11) also ended up in the top 20 to help the Tigers to a third-place finish.
“Tyler Stargardt ran a strong fifth position for us in the boys race (19th, 19:20) and I was impressed with his effort today,” Akin said.
The Marshfield JV teams each finished third.
Marshfield is action again Saturday at the Smiley Invitational at Legion Golf Course in Wausau.
