MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team couldn’t hold on to a three-goal lead and had to settle for a tie in a nonconference game Monday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Marshfield scored twice in the second period to take the lead.

Isaac Wellens and Ryan Krueger had power-play goals to put the Tigers up 2-0.

Marshfield pushed its lead to 3-0 on a short-handed goal by Nick Urban four minutes into the third period.

Baldwin-Woodville (18-4-2) responded with three goals in the next 6½ minutes to tie the game and it would finish in a 3-3 deadlock.

Marshfield finishes its regular-season schedule with a 16-7-1 record. The Tigers will open WIAA postseason play with a regional final at Chippewa Falls on Thursday.

The final game of the season was Senior Night for Marshfield as it celebrated the eight seniors that have helped the Tigers to the most wins in a season in school history.

Marshfield’s seniors are Isaiah Baierl, Krueger, Wellens, Nate Boson, Dalton Halvorsen, Adam Maki, Ben Baur and Justin Stanek.
