MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team made a big comeback with a huge second half to defeat Lakeland 79-71 in a nonconference game on Monday night at Marshfield High School.
Lakeland led 31-21 before Marshfield came roaring back, outscoring the Thunderbirds 58-40 in the second half to pull out the win.
Marshfield is now 10-11 and Lakeland drops to 12-7.
Maddie Michaelis made 7 of 10 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 23 points for Marshfield. Paige Preston made 9 of 11 shots from the field and added 22 points, and Kaydee Johnson chipped in 13 points for the Tigers.
Melissa Bruckner had 28 points and six rebounds to lead Lakeland.
Marshfield will finish its regular-season schedule Friday at home against Menomonie. The Tigers will play at Wausau West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Feb. 22.
