MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team started the postseason with a bang, blowing out Tri-County 88-34 in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
The Dons (21-2) move on to a D-5 regional semifinal at home at 7 p.m. Friday against Loyal (11-12). Loyal beat Wisconsin Valley Lutheran, 61-41, on Tuesday.
Ethan Meece and Bryce Fuerlinger each scored 20 points to lead Columbus.
The Dons cruised out to a 64-14 lead against the undermanned Penguins (1-22), and were able to empty the bench in the second half.
Noah Taylor added nine points and Wyatt Drexler scored eight for the Dons, who had 11 players score in all.
