SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team pulled away in the second half to beat Necedah 61-50 in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Wednesday at Spencer High School.
The game was tied 26-26 at halftime before the Rockets used an 11-point advantage in the second half to earn the win.
Spencer (8-15) will play at No. 1 seed Auburndale (17-5) in a D-4 regional semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday.
Nate Karau made 11 of 14 shots from the field and scored a team-high 22 points for Spencer. He also added 11 rebounds. Brett Kasch added 17 points and Austin Bacon had 16 in the win.
Jaron Murphy led Necedah (7-14) with 26 points.
