AUBURNDALE – Edgar held Auburndale to just 103 total yards and pitched its fourth straight shutout to start the season, beating the Apaches 49-0 in a Marawood Conference football game Friday at Auburndale High School.
Edgar, the defending WIAA Division 6 state champions, scored five first-half touchdowns and enjoyed the running clock in the second half to improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Marawood. Auburndale falls 1-3 overall and in conference.
Jorie Skrzypchak ran for 114 yards on just eight carries and scored twice for the Wildcats. Edgar rushed for 247 yards on only 23 carries and Dalton Lehman completed four passes for another 92 yards.
Auburndale managed 63 yards on the ground on 33 carries as Edgar’s defense proved its first three shutouts were no fluke.
Edgar has outscored its four opponents 196-0 so far this season.
Auburndale plays at Rib Lake/Prentice next Friday, while Edgar hosts Pittsville.
