WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys golf team came up two shots short of first place and had to settle for second at the Wisconsin Rapids Quadrangular on Monday at Bull’s Eye Golf Club.
The Tigers finished with a team score of 341, two shots behind meet champion Stevens Point. Wisconsin Rapids was third with a 360 and Wausau West was fourth with a 366.
Ben Baur led the way for the Tigers, finishing third with an 83. Cole Hanson was fourth with an 84, Davis Rens tied for fifth with an 86, and Nate Boson tied for ninth with an 88 for Marshfield. Jackson Bulgrin added a 91.
Stevens Point’s Evan Thomas was meet medalist with a 78, four shots better than Wisconsin Rapids’ Spencer Sparks.
Marshfield won the JV team title with a 380, four shots ahead of Stevens Point. Jeffery Berres took first place individually with an 83 to lead the way for the Tigers.
The next Marshfield varsity meet will be Friday at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids as the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament begins with the first of seven meets. The Marshfield JV squad will compete at invitationals at Wisconsin Dells on Wednesday and Mosinee on Thursday, before hosting a meet on Friday at RiverEdge Golf Course.
