Stratford softball beats Newman Catholic, stays unbeaten in Marawood South

WAUSAU – The Stratford softball team kept pace with Marathon on top of the Marawood Conference South Division standings with a 15-4 win over Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday.

The Tigers are now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood South.

Stratford busted open a 1-1 game with a nine-run fifth inning, and put the finishing touches on the victory with five more runs in the sixth.

Sydney Boeger had two hits and five RBIs, Emily Meyer was 3-for-4, and Paige Kolbeck and Mazie Nagel each added two hits for the Tigers.

Maria Schoenfuss threw a complete game for Stratford, striking out two and walking one, to earn the win.

Stratford hosts Athens on Friday.
