NEILLSVILLE – Braden Trunkel struck out 10 in five innings of work to help lead Neillsville to a 6-4 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Monday at Neillsville High School.
Trunkel left with a 6-2 lead after five innings and Columbus Catholic managed to score twice in the seventh against Neillsville reliever Cole Hediger, before he got out of the jam and finished off the win for the Warriors.
Neillsville is now 6-6 overall and 5-4 in the Cloverbelt Est, while Columbus falls to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Bryce Fuerlinger had two hits and two RBIs, and Jarred Mandel had a triple and two RBIs for the Dons.
Darrin Loberg had two of Neillsville’s seven hits.
Columbus Catholic hosts Loyal on Tuesday, while Neillsville is off until Thursday when it plays at Loyal.
