GILMAN – Marshfield Columbus Catholic could not hold on to a three-run lead late and Gilman rallied for a 6-4 win in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Friday.
Columbus scored a pair of runs in the first inning and had single tallies in the second and fifth to take a 4-1 lead before the Pirates finally got their bats going.
Gilman scored five times in the bottom of the sixth against a pair of Columbus Catholic relievers to take the lead.
Columbus Catholic pitchers combined for nine walks in the loss. The Dons are now 2-6 overall and 2-5 in the Cloverbelt East.
Bryce Fuerlinger had two hits for Columbus Catholic, which will compete at the Westby Tournament on Saturday.
Maverick Birkenholz had a single, two doubles and scored twice for Gilman (5-5, 5-4 Cloverbelt East).
The two teams will meet against Monday at Jack Hackman Field.
