MERRILL – Marshfield teams finished in third and eighth at the 10-team Merrill Boys Golf Invitational on Saturday at Merrill Public Golf Course.
The tournament had team, individual, and two-man best ball competitions over the 18-hole course.
D.C. Everest earned the team title with a score of 328, one shot ahead of Lakeland and two in front of Marshfield. Marshfield’s other team finished eighth with a score of 395.
Nate Boson and Davis Rens tied for sixth with 79s to lead the Tigers. Ben Baur had an 84 and Cole Hanson shot an 88 to round out Marshfield’s third-place finishing team.
Marshfield’s other team was led by Jeffery Berres, who shot an 89. Caden Machtan had a 98, Seth Peterson shot 100, and Ben Lawyer had a 108 for the Tigers.
Russell Dettmering of Merrill won the individual title with a two-under par 70, two shots ahead of Lakeland’s Ansen Nomm.
Ansen Nomm and Kaedon Nomm of Lakeland won the two-man best ball competition with a 69. Baur and Boson finished fourth with a 72 and Rens and Hanson had a 73 to take fifth for Marshfield.
Marshfield will wrap up its regular season next week with the final two legs of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament. The sixth meet will be Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau, and Marshfield will host the final meet on Friday at RiverEdge Golf Course.
