Auburndale baseball sweeps two at Wittenberg-Birnamwood Triangular

WITTENBERG – The Auburndale baseball team took first place at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Triangular on Saturday, winning both of its games.

Auburndale defeated Wittenberg-Birnamwood 6-5 and Northland Pines 2-0 to improve to 5-8 this season.

Against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the Chargers took a 5-0 lead after an inning and a half before Auburndale stormed back.

Auburndale scored a run in the second inning and added five more in the fifth to pull ahead.

Colton Wright earned the win, throwing six innings with three strikeouts. He also had two RBIs in the win. Fletcher Raab and Dylan Paun each had two hits for the Apaches.

Hunter Wright threw a complete-game four-hit shutout against Northland Pines, striking out four.

Cooper Weinfurter, Trayton Weister and Colton Wright each had two hits for the Apaches.

Auburndale hosts Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday.
