Auburndale baseball blows past Newman Catholic

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale used a 10-run second inning to pull past Wausau Newman Catholic and win 17-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Eleven different Apaches had hits in the victory as they improve to 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the Marawood South.

Cooper Weinfurter tossed a five-inning complete game, striking out eight and allowing just two hits and one walk.

Weinfurter also went 3-for-3 at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring three times.

Colton Weight also had three hits and had four RBIs, and Hunter Wright had a triple and three RBIs for the Apaches.

The two teams will meet again Thursday at Newman Catholic in the final Marawood Conference game of the season for both.
