MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield softball team ended its regular-season schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Holmen on Friday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
The Tigers won the opener 5-2 and rolled to a 17-1 win in Game 2 as they finish the regular season with a 14-9 record.
Courtney Donahue threw a complete-game three-hitter in Game 1, allowing just two unearned runs in the seventh inning. She struck out five and walked one.
Marshfield broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning and added another run in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.
Jenna Jakobi, Madalen Bornbach and Maddie Mews each had two hits for the Tigers.
In Game 2, Marshfield scored five times in both the first and third innings, and put the game away via the 10-run rule with seven more over its final two at-bats.
Sandra Costa did it all for the Tigers. She threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out seven, and also had a single, a double and seven RBIs in the win.
Marshfield finished with 19 hits. Bornbach, Mews and Jordan Pretsch each ahd three hits, and Jenna Jakobi smacked two home runs and had four RBIs for Marshfield.
Rhiannon Corozolla and Madison Voss each added a pair of hits for the Tigers.
Marshfield (14-9) will open the WIAA playoffs at home on Tuesday with a Division 1 regional semifinal against New Richmond. Game time is 4:30 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
