The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball teams will be in action Friday playing in postseason tournaments.
The Marshfield Junior team will be hosting the 2019 17U Legion State Tournament this Friday through Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
The Blue Devils (21-7) will take on Chippewa Falls in the final game Friday at 7 p.m. Play begins at 11 a.m. with Fond du Lac playing the Appleton Doubledays. Bay Port and Plover will follow at approximately 1:30 p.m. and Manitowoc will play Racine prior to the Marshfield game starting at about 4:30 p.m.
There will be four games on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., three on Sunday and two on Monday to whittle down the field of eight teams to two in the double-elimination tournament. The championship round will be held Tuesday starting at 4:30 p.m. and another will game will follow if necessary.
Marshfield has been on fire at the plate all season long, scoring in double figures 14 times in its 28 games.
The Marshfield Senior team will begin play in the seven-team Class AAA Regional at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point on Friday. The regional champion qualifies for the Class AAA State Legion Baseball Tournament in Chippewa Falls, which will be held at Casper Park from July 26-30.
The Blue Devils (14-19) will play D.C. Everest in the opening game of the four-day double-elimination tournament at noon on Friday. Marshfield will be back in action Saturday afternoon at noon if it loses Friday, or at 2:30 p.m. if it wins.
The tournament, which includes Plover, Wausau, Merrill, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids, will conclude with the championship game or games on Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
