Medford wins Spencer Volleyball Invitational, Rockets finish 0-4

SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team opened its 2019 season with its annual home invitational.

Medford won the five-team round-robin tournament with a perfect 4-0 record. Prentice was second at 3-1, Edgar finished 2-2, Mosinee was 1-3 and Spencer ended up 0-4.

Spencer lost to Edgar 25-10, 25-19; Prentice 25-9, 25-13; Medford 25-6, 25-10; and Mosinee 25-20, 24-26, 16-14.

Heavyn Kind led Spencer with 13 kills and four service aces, and added 23 digs. Elexa Post led the Rockets’ defense with 32 digs, and setter Zalexis Mannigel had a team-high 23 assists.

Jorie Meyer added eight kills, Madison Knecht had seven kills, and Mannigel had 17 digs for the Rockets.

Spencer returns to action Saturday at the Marathon Invitaitonal.
