WAUSAU – The Auburndale volleyball team opened its 2019 campaign by winning two of three matches at the Wausau West Quadrangular on Wednesday.
Auburndale beat Marathon 25-12, 21-25, 25-10, and Lakeland 25-16, 25-8, and lost to Wausau West 25-12, 25-16.
Isabelle Hilber had 19 kills, Natalie Aue added 15 kills, and Katie Helminiak had 12 kills for the Auburndale offense. Setter Georgi Schmutzer had 44 assists and 20 digs, Maggie Willfahrt had a team-high 21 digs, and Hilber and Madison Krings each had six service aces for the Apaches.
Auburndale jumps right back into action Thursday at the Green Bay East Invitational.
