Marshfield girls tennis finishes 1-4 at Wausau West Invite

WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls tennis team finished 1-4 at the Wausau West Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Marshfield’s No. 3 doubles team of Ana Paape and Christina Chin went undefeated at the tournament for the Tigers.

The Tigers lone dual meet win came against Chippewa Falls, 4-3. In addition to the team of Paape and Chin, other wins for Marshfield came from Jabine Devadas at No. 1 singles (6-3, 7-6 (5)), Nichole Specht at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-3), and the No. 1 doubles team of Emily Weis and Lauren Weigel (6-0, 6-2).

Marshfield lost to Rhinelander 6-1, Wausau East 5-2, Wausau West 5-2, and Antigo 4-3.

Brooklyn Dillinger won at No. 3 singles against East (6-1, 0-6, 10-5), and the No. 2 doubles team of Krupa Patel and Sydney Newmier picked up wins of 6-4, 6-4, against West, and 6-3, 1-6 (12-10) against Antigo.

Weis and Weigel also posted a win at No. 1 doubles against Antigo, 7-5, 2-6, (10-5).

Marshfield returns to action Thursday with its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener at home against Stevens Point.
