AUBURNDALE – Auburndale came back from a set down to sweep the final three games and take a nonconference match from Marshfield Columbus Catholic 3-1 on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Columbus Catholic won the first set 25-12, before Auburndale roared back and won the next three, 26-24, 25-23, 25-17, in a hotly-contested match.

Katie Helminiak led Auburndale with 11 kills, Natalie Aue had nine kills and 12 digs, and Georgi Schmutzer had 28 assists and 12 digs. Isabelle Hilber added eight kills and Maggie Willfahrt had 10 digs for the Apaches, who had 63 digs in all as they were on top of their defensive game.

Dorci Walker led Columbus with 11 kills and three blocks, Jess Jakopin added 10 kills and three blocks, and Megan Kibble had 32 assists and 10 digs. Emmalee Jicinsky added seven kills and a team-best 15 blocks, and Sydney Litwaitis had 22 digs for the Dons.

Auburndale will compete at the Greenwood Quadrangular on Thursday, while Columbus Catholic is off until Sept. 12 when it opens Cloverbelt Conference at Loyal.
