MARSHFIELD – Taylor Varsho and the rest of the singles players won in straight sets to lead the Marshfield girls tennis team to a 5-2 win over Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet Monday at Boson Courts.
Varsho won her No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-0, over Jessie Beyer to improve to 3-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Victoria Jensen at No. 3 singles and Susan Lou at No. 4 singles also won in straight sets and each improve to 3-0 in the Valley.
Megan Hayes won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles for the Tigers.
Marshfield also won at No. 3 doubles as Justine Bushee and Christine Phillips beat Mary Platt and Steph Pankonen 6-4, 6-1.
The Tigers wrap up their dual meet schedule with matches at Merrill on Tuesday and at home against Stevens Point on Wednesday. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet is Thursday at Wausau West and East high schools.
