Columbus Catholic soccer takes down Northland Lutheran for first CWC win

KRONENWETTER – Dylan Porter scored a pair of goals and Wyatt Drexler had 10 saves in goal to push the Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team to a 3-1 win over Northland Lutheran on Thursday in Central Wisconsin Conference action.

The Dons improve to 2-0-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the CWC with the victory.

Zach Olson scored in the 7th minute, on an assist from John Garneeau, to put Columbus Catholic on the board.

Northland Lutheran countered when Austin Hafermann scored at the 25:19 mark.

About 7½ minutes later, Porter put the Dons on top for good.

Porter added his second goal, on a Tyler Linzmeier assist, 2:06 into the second half and Columbus was able to hold on from there.

Northland Lutheran outshot the Dons 11-9 on goal, but Drexler came up big with the 10 saves.

The Dons will host Gresham/Bowler at 5 p.m. Monday at Griese Park.
