SPENCER – Spencer/Columbus Catholic dominated the line of scrimmage, piling up 427 rushing yards and holding Fall Creek to just 100, on its way to a 55-0 rout in a Cloverbelt Conference football game Friday night at Fritsch Field at Spencer High School.

Austin Bacon ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns, and Eden Jacobson rushed for 135 yards and three more TDs to lead the SC offense, which totaled 494 yards in all.

The win is Spencer/Columbus’ first win of the season as it improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference. Fall Creek falls to 0-3 overall and in conference play.

Bacon had a touchdown run of 51 yards just 37 seconds into the game and the rout was on.

Jacobson added a 6-yard TD run and Bacon caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Gage Stratman to give the Rockets a 22-0 lead after one quarter.

Bacon had TD runs of 1 and 12 yards, and Jacobson scored from 3 and 60 yards, to push Spencer/Columbus’ lead to 49-0 by halftime.

“We played very well tonight,” Spencer/Columbus coach Jason Gorst said. “The effort and focus were both improved. Eden and Austin had huge nights, and we did a great job blocking up front. I thought Austin (Grubofski) and Gavid (Kilty) did a great job on the line.”

Will Gorst added an 18-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Rockets to finish off the scoring.

Spencer/Columbus plays at Stanley-Boyd next Friday, Sept. 13.
