Marshfield volleyball finishes 3-2 at home tournament

MARSHFIELD – Abbotsford was a perfect 5-0 to win the Marshfield Tiger Volleyball Invitational on Saturday at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield finished 3-2, beating Ashwaubenon 2-0 (25-20, 25-9), Oshkosh North 2-0 (25-20, 25-18), and Antigo 2-1 (18-25, 25-19, 15-11), and lost to Abbotsford 2-1 (22-25, 25-12, 15-8) and Superior (25-20, 25-16).

Lindsey Steffen had 43 kills, seven blocks and six service aces, Brooklyn Boushack had 30 kills and nine block kills, and Taylor Barwick had 57 assists to lead the Tigers in their five matces.

Kati Sadowska had 55 digs to lead the defense, Hannah Kelnhofer added 33 digs and seven aces, Alani Carter had 21 kills, and Bailey Matis had 39 assists for Marshfield.

“This was a pretty good day for us,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “Our goal was to get our middles more involved in our offense and we were able to do that. When we clean up some of our errors, the matches we think we should win, we will. I’m excited to see what this team is going to be able to do as we continue conference play.”

Marshfield plays a nonconference match at Stratford on Thursday.
