Wisconsin Rapids wins three three-set matches, tops Marshfield girls tennis

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids won three three-set matches and knocked off Marshfield 5-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis dual meet on Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

Winners for Marshfield were No. 4 singles player Hailey McCanna, who won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, and the No. 3 doubles team of Ana Paape and Christina Chin, who won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.

Marshfield’s Caitlyn Christensen fell at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-3; the No. 1 doubles team of Emily Weis and Lauren Weigel lost 5-7, 6-4, 6-0; and No. 2 doubles team of Krupa Patel and Sydney Newmeir lost 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Losing in straight sets for Marshfield were Brooklyn Dillinger at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3, and Jebina Devadas at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

The names of Wisconsin Rapids players were not provided.

Marshfield (0-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference) hosts Merrill for another conference dual at 4 p.m. Thursday at Boson Tennis Complex.
