IOLA – The Auburndale volleyball team earned a hard-fought nonconference win, beating Iola-Scandinavia 3-1 on Thursday night at Iola-Scandinavia High School.
The Apaches won 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21.
Auburndale’s defense was busy, piling up 89 digs with six different players hitting double figures. Georgi Schmutzer had 16 digs, Maggie Willfahrt had 15, and Brionna Haasl added 14.
Schmutzer had 34 assists and seven kills, Katie Helminiak had 17 kills, and Isabelle Hilber had 11 kills for the Apaches in the victory.
Auburndale will host its annual home tournament on Saturday.
