Columbus Catholic soccer rolls to road win at Wisconsin Valley Lutheran

MOSINEE – Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored five first-half goals and the defense shut down Wisconsin Valley Lutheran as the Dons won 5-1 in a Central Wisconsin Conference soccer game Thursday.

Dylan Porter scored the Dons’ first goal in the 20th minute, and Kellen Delaney and Tom Nystrom had two goals each before halftime and Columbus Catholic took command.

Nystrom assisted on both of Delaney’s goals, and Zach Olson had an assist on Porter’s score.

Columbus Catholic is now 4-0-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the CWC. Wisconsin Valley Lutheran falls to 0-3 overall and in conference play.

Columbus Catholic outshot Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 46-6 overall and 26-5 on goal.

Brandon Lang had four saves in goal in the second half for the Dons. Wyatt Drexler was untested at goalkeeper in the first half.

Columbus Catholic returns to action Saturday when it hosts Arcadia and La Crosse Aquinas for a triangular. The Dons play Arcadia at 10 a.m. and Aquinas at 12:30 p.m. at Griese Park.
