Marshfield girls tennis blanks D.C. Everest

WESTON – Marshfield won six matches in straight sets and rolled to a 7-0 shutout of D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis meet on Tuesday at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers are now 2-2 in the WVC, while D.C. Everest falls to 0-2.

Marshfield won all four singles matches in straight sets, losing a total of just nine games. Winners for the Tigers were Jabina Devadas, Caitlyn Christensen, Brooklyn Dillinger and Hailey McCanna.

The Tigers’ No. 1 doubles team of Emily Weis and Lauren Weigel needed three sets to beat Calista Fehrer and Paige Zaige, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Marshfield’s other doubles teams won in straight sets. Krupa Patel and Sydney Newmier won 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles, and Ana Paape and Christina Chin rolled 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles.

Marshfield will host Wausau East at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Boson Tennis Complex.
