Marshfield freshman football comes back to top Ben Franklin

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield freshman football team stormed back from a two-touchdown deficit to beat Stevens Point Ben Franklin 28-22 on Thursday at Beell Stadium.

Ben Franklin led 14-0 in the second quarter before the Tigers mounted their comeback.

Jeff Marsh had a 64-yard touchdown run, and quarterback Trevor Foemmel had TD runs of 1 and 3 yards, and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Sam Meverden to Marshfield’s scores.

Foemmel had a two-point conversion run and a two-point pass to Evan Pretsch as well.

Isaac Dagit, Ben Dietsche and Meverden led the defense, while Noah Peterson was the special teams’ top player, coach Gary Zopfi said.

Marshfield will play at Stevens Point on Sept. 26.
