MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team kept its undefeated record intact with a dominating 6-1 win over Wausau Newman Catholic in a Central Wisconsin Conference match Thursday at Griese Park.
Columbus poured it on early, scoring three times in a 45-second span in the opening three minutes to take control.
Tom Nystrom scored at the 1:32 mark and Dylan Porter added a goal just 17 seconds later, both on assists from Kellen Delaney.
At the 2:17 mark, Delaney scored again to give the Dons a quick 3-0 lead.
The score remained that way until 10:15 into the second half with Delaney connecting on a penalty kick.
Matt Hamilton scored 58 seconds later for Newman’s only goal, and Columbus was able to finish off the win with goals by Delaney and Porter.
Columbus Catholic is now 7-1-3 overall and 5-0-1 in the CWC. The Dons host Tri-County on Monday at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
