MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team took care of business on its home field at Griese Park on Monday, rolling to a 9-1 win over Tri-County in a Central Wisconsin Conference match.
With the big win, the Dons are now 8-1-3 overall and remain unbeaten in the CWC at 6-0-1 after the first half of the conference season.
Columbus Catholic dominated play, with a 23-5 edge on shots on goal and a 24-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Kellen Delaney had two goals and three assists, and six other Dons scored goals in the victory.
Tyler Linzmeier, Addison Baierl, Lucas Reigel, Cole Heinzen and Wyatt Drexler added goals to Delaney’s two scores in the first half for Columbus Catholic. The Dons also had a goal on a Tri-County own goal.
Sammy Neville had the Dons’ final goal with 15:15 remaining for his first career goal. Baierl, Reigel, Heinzen and Drexler also had their first varsity goals of their careers.
Columbus Catholic plays at Amherst/Iola-Scandinavia/Rosholt on Thursday at Amherst High School. AIR handed the Dons their only blemish on their CWC record with a tie in the conference opener back in late August.
