Columbus Catholic soccer rallies to beat Northland Lutheran

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic overcame an early deficit to beat Northland Lutheran 2-1 and remain undefeated in the Central Wisconsin Conference.

The Dons are now 10-1-3 overall and 8-0-1 in the Central Wisconsin Conference. Northland Lutheran falls to 7-3 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Austin Hafermann scored at the 3:34 mark to give Northland Lutheran the early lead.

The score remained the same until Columbus Catholic was able to tie it up late in the first half. Zach Olson, off an assist from Kellen Delaney, knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal with 4:05 to go in the first half.

The Dons used that momentum to jump on Northland Lutheran early in the second half as Kellen Delaney scored off an assist from Afton Delaney 4:59 into the half to give them a 2-1 lead.

That score held the rest of the way as the Columbus Catholic defense was able to do enough. Wyatt Drexler had 10 saves in goal for the Dons.
