MARSHFIELD – Joey Ter Maat scored in the 82nd meet to help Wisconsin Rapids forge a 2-2 tie with Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys soccer match at rainy and wet Heiting Community Stadium on Tuesday night.
The team’s exchanged goals in each half, with the game ending in a tie after 90 minutes.
Marshfield is now 7-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Rapids moves to 5-6-2 and 3-4-1 in conference play.
Brian Fay scored off an assist from Sam Roherty at the 36:42 mark to give Marshfield a 1-0 lead.
Wisconsin Rapids retaliated six minutes later when Isias Escalera scored, on an assist from Ter Maat, to knot the game at 1-1.
That score held until Kyle Tremelling scored on a penalty kick at the 77:19 mark for Marshfield, only to see Rapids come back again with Ter Maat’s goal 4½ minutes later.
Trevor Cassidy had eight saves for Marshfield, and Ethan Wilhorn made 11 saves for the Raiders.
Marshfield hosts Merrill at 7 p.m. Thursday at Heiting Community Stadium. Wisconsin Rapids will be at home at Washington Elementary School at 7 p.m. Thursday against Stevens Point.
