Marshfield freshman football pummels Wausau East

WAUSAU – The Marshfield freshman football team dominated Wausau East, winning 45-6 on Thursday at East High School.

Jeff Marsh returned a kickoff 73 yards for a touchdown and had a 75-yard TD run, and quarterback Trevor Foemmel threw touchdown passes of 80, 50 and 3 yards to Sam Meverden to lead the way for Marshfield.

Garrett Willuweit and Eli Colby added 10-yard touchdown runs, and Noah Peterson had three extra points kicks for the Tigers.

Brett Franklin, Meverden and Cliff Hansen were the defensive leaders, coach Gary Zopfi said, and the coaching staff also recognized Carson Matis, Evan Pretsch and Colby for the downfield blocking.

Franklin had a pair of interceptions and Ben Dietsche recovered a fumble for the Tigers.

Marshfield hosts Antigo on Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m.
