Marshfield boys soccer and football player Kyle Tremelling has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com September High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award sponsors for the 2019-20 school year are Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards. The monthly award will continue through June 2020, and the winner of the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com High School Athlete of the Year will be announced July 9.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Tremelling earned nearly 800 of the more than 1,900 votes cast during voting Oct. 1-7.
Other nominees for the September award were: Spencer/Columbus football player Eden Jacobson, Greenwood football player Cooper Bredlau, Athens cross country runner Johnathon Nowacki, and Stratford volleyball player Mikayla Guldan.
Tremelling, a senior, emerged as the Tigers boys soccer team’s leading scorer and has also served well as the football team’s kicker and punter. He had eight goals and an assist for the soccer team, which went 6-3 in September, and has put itself in the mix in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. As the Tigers’ kicker in football, Tremelling made 11 of 12 extra point attempts overall, and had a field goal in Marshfield’s win over Wisconsin Rapids on Sept. 27.
