PRENTICE – The Auburndale football team came into its game against Rib Lake/Prentice on Friday on a mission. Win and the Apaches were going to the playoffs.
Auburndale did that in resounding fashion, holding Rib Lake/Prentice to minus-7 yards and rolling to a 62-0 victory on Friday night at Prentice High School.
The Apaches (7-2, 3-2 Marawood Conference) cruised out to a 42-0 lead by halftime as their offense, defense and special teams all contributed touchdowns.
Dylan Paun had a 4-yard touchdown run and quarterback Cooper Weinfurter sprinted 22 yards for another score to put Auburndale up 14-0 midway through the first quarter.
Weinfurter returned a punt 42 yards for another score in the final minute of the first quarter to push the lead to 21-0.
Kyle Peterson had a 1-yard TD run and Weinfurter hit Hunter Wright for a 16-yard scoring strike to up Auburndale’s lead to 35-0.
To put the icing on the dominating first half, Paul Kollross scooped up a Red Hawks’ fumble and raced 23 yards for another score before halftime.
Kaden Hoffman returned the opening kickoff of the second half 74 yards for another touchdown, and Terrance Roberson added two rushing scores to finish off the win for the Apaches.
Peterson had 83 of Auburndale’s 228 rushing yards to lead the offense.
The WIAA will announce its playoff pairings on Saturday.
