AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Colby in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches won 25-17, 25-15, 25-16, to move on to a regional semifinal on Thursday. No. 2 seed Auburndale will host No. 6 Cadott on Thursday at 7 p.m. with the winner playing for a regional title on Saturday. Cadott defeated Nekoosa 3-1 on Tuesday.
Auburndale’s defense was stellar, finishing with 57 digs in three sets. Maggie Willfahrt had a team-high 13 digs to lead the way.
Katie Helminiak had 12 kills and 10 digs, Georgi Schmutzer had 11 digs and 34 assists, and Isabelle Hilber added eight kills for the Apaches.
