WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield had six individual top-10 finishes and placed sixth at the 2019 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swimming Meet on Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
D.C. Everest won the team title with 521.5 points, with Stevens Point second with 477.5 Marshfield was sixth with 172 points.
Stevens Point had won the past three WVC girls swimming titles.
Bethany Rahn of D.C. Everest set the only meet record of the day with a time of 5:10.09 in the 500 freestyle, breaking her record of 5:12.74 set last year. Rahn was named the WVC Girls Swimmer of the Year by the conference coaches. Kristie Winter of Merrill and Garrett Richetto of D.C. Everest shared the Coach of the Year award.
Rahn alson won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.68, and was part of the Evergreens’ winning 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Maddie Van Ermen won the 200 individual medley (2:12.78) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.62), and Sara Mayer was first in the 50 freestyle (24.46) and the 100 freestyle (53.36) as well for D.C. Everest. Van Ermen and Mayer were also on the winning 200 freestyle relay team, along with Katelin Hall and Rahn.
Skylar Onsager had Marshfield’s top individual finish, taking third in the 100 freestyle in 56.38 seconds. She also earned a top-10 finish by taking sixth in the 50 freestyle in 26.04 seconds.
Courtney Donahue was fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.54 and eighth in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.08; and Alyssa Franks finished fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:40.40 and eighth in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.45 for Marshfield’s other top individual finishes.
Marshfield’s 200 medley relay team of Hope Risa, Onsager, Donahue and Franks took fifth in 1:58.14, and the same four teamed to take sixth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:58.55 for the Tigers.
Marshfield will compete at the WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at Hudson Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 9.
