Fall Creek holds off Stratford in WIAA Division 3 volleyball sectional semifinal

FALL CREEK – Top-seeded Fall Creek pulled away to win the final two sets and defeat No. 2 seed and two-time defending sectional champion Stratford 3-1 in a WIAA Division 3 girls volleyball sectional semifinal Thursday night at Fall Creek High School.

Fall Creek won the match 25-21, 12-25, 25-17, 25-16, to advance to a Division 3 sectional final against Oconto on Saturday at Neenah St. Mary Catholic High School.

The Tigers see their season end two wins short of a third-straight state tournament trip.

The Fall Creek-Oconto winner will qualify for the 2019 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament at Resch Center in Green Bay on Nov. 7-9.

Mikayla Guldan had 14 kills and 12 digs, Lauryn Nagel had 12 kills and 18 assists, and Abby Oertel had 19 assists for the Tigers.

Kamryn Schueller had five service aces, Tanaya Schillinger had 15 digs, and McKenna Krall added 12 digs for Stratford.
