AUBURNDALE – Auburndale was held to just four made baskets in the first half, fell behind by double digits, and dropped a 50-28 decision to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in the Marawood Conference South Division opener for both teams on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.
Assumption, playing its season opener, pulled out to a 25-12 lead by halftime and outscored the Apaches by nine in the second half to pull away.
Madalyn Bohn scored 13 points, 11 in the first half, for the Royals.
Georgi Schmutzer and Kaitlyn Kundinger each had six points to lead Auburndale (1-1 overall).
Auburndale hosts Marathon on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
