AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team opened up its Marawood Conference South Division schedule with a dominating home victory.
The Apaches held Wisconsin Rapids Assumption to 15 first-half points, opened up a 25-point advantage by intermission, and rolled to a 75-37 win over the Royals on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale led 40-15 at halftime and maintained its big lead throughout the second half to improve to 2-0 overall. Assumption is now 0-3 overall.
Fletcher Raab led the Apaches with 16 points, including three of the team’s seven 3-pointers. Hunter Wright added 13 points, Cooper Weinfurter had 11 points, and Kaden Hoffman scored 10 for Auburndale.
Auburndale shot 59 percent from the field (32-for-54) on its way to the victory.
Alec Sullivan had 10 points to lead the Royals.
The Apaches will host Abbotsford on Friday in a Marawood North-South crossover doubleheader with the girls. The boys game is at 5:45 p.m., with the girls to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.
